Located just south of Watkins Glen, on County Rd 16, the Glen is still the premier road racing circuit in the USA.
Now I know there is the COTA and Road America, both great tracks, but the history of the Glen is just the stuff of legends
and more importantly, of Lotus legends. The site of the first Team Lotus Grand Prix victory by Innes Ireland in 1961. 
Team Lotus has won here seven times (fitting that it is SEVEN times) during the 60’s and 70’s. Last Lotus driver to win
here was Ronnie Peterson in 1973.

The Glen stopped hosting Grand Prix races in 1981 and the track fell into disrepair until Corning Glass, in 1983 bought the
track with the International Speedway Corporation. in 1983.  In fact, at the time Will Burnham told me that the track was
for sale and anyone could buy it for $300,000. (If only.)  Owned by Corning Glass and International Speedway
Corporation ( better known as the company that owns Nascar) through the late 80’s and early 90’s, in 1997 International
Speedway Corporation became the sole owner of the historic road course.  Corning Enterprises believed they had completed
their intended goals to rebuild the race track and increase tourism in the Finger Lakes region of New York State so it sold its
interest in the track.

International Speedway Corporation has put many millions of dollars of investment into the track and has brought it back to the be one of the best road courses in the world.
